Thinking about a Cummins swap because I have some connections. I was wondering what my motor might be worth.
94 7.3 IDI
194,000 Miles
Replaced stock ATS turbo with Banks turbo and exhaust put on 20,000 miles ago.
DPS injector pump 10,000 miles ago
DPS stage 1 injectors (same)
New lift pump last week.
New water pump last year.
I have always run coolant additive and check it religiously. I also run synthetic oil in it. The motor has never really given me any problems other than the regular IDI fuel leaks and such. I do not know if I will swap or not but am just thinking and maybe planning.
is the engine the original turbo engine????????? if not---they arent worth as much as the turbo ones---when you see them on ebay--they go high---

What it's worth and what you can sell it for are two very different things. I would guess you should be getting $3000.00 plus but getting someone to give you that much will be tought. I'm guessing you probably have a few bucks invested in the turbo, pump and injectors but that's the problem with our toys they depreciate rapidly. It also has almost two hundred thousand miles on it that's starting to get up there.

There's too many miles on it to sell as parts. As far as selling the pump and injects and turbo seperate that you could do if you have replacemnet stuff to put back on the engine, at least pump and injectors. But I will warn you you will sell the easy stuff and get probably decent money for it. But the other stuff you will set on and end up giving away at some future point. I end up with extra parts all the time as does a diesel mechanic friend. Unless you have a business with daily traffic it is very hard to sell and recieve a fair price for the items you don't need. If you want to sell the engine put it up for sale here on the forum, ebay or in your local paper and take the best offer you get. A lot less headache.
