Unhappy what rear drums do i have/need???

Hi all,
i need the services of a wisened guru! I've been around tha wrenches for over 40 years, but this one has me totally stupified! i have an 85 f250 ext cab 2 wheel drive c-6 6.9/now7.3. did a total brake rebuild i.e. m.c,rotors,calipers,hoses(front)......rear cylinders, shoes, springs, seals, bearings and races. rear drums were toast, at least one due to previous doof..er..owner getting the shoes all messed up..adjusters on wrong sides..broken lower spring on one side..left it off the other! anyway..here's the prob...i've been thru all the possible applications from all the parts houses for the rear drums...zilch! they are 12'X3" drums..Dayton cast on the drum rim...Dayton was of no help..company sold several times to various companies..all no help!the closest drums i had slid on ok then choked up an inch short of mating to the hub flange.the inside taper of the drum hits the outside perimiter of the hub flange.it's a full floater, i presume a dana 60, tag has zero numbers on it. tin rear cover, presumed 10.25 ring. this one has an adapter ring that bolts to the original bolt circle after the drum goes on then dual wheels bolt to that...same on the front(single wheel) of course.what tha heck do i have and where do i get drums???? any help would be most appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the rear diff cover is 10 bolt easily 12" wide. no numbers on the tubes. viewed fro the rear, lower right web on carrier housing is a diamond with NG inside, upper right 40285,lower left is085a i think. axle code on door sticker is G2

My 86 has the Ford/Sterling 10.25" Rear Axle, and I know the drums are 12x3's but I can't imagine why the parts houses can't find your parts. I'm not sure what year Ford jumped from the Dana 60/70 axles to the Sterlings, but with a little searching from a good parts guy, you should be able to find them. Hopefully you not on the wrong end of an axle swap somewhere in the past...

Good luck with it.

Is it possible your truck should be using the 2.5 inch wide rear shoes and drums? I know they offer both for my year.

Since it is an F "2"50 then it's a single rear wheel axle. There are no factory F250 duallies.
