What to use to attach emblems?

Now that I am done painting the truck parts are going back on including the emblems, what can be used to stick the 250XLT and turbodiesel tags back on the fenders?

Thanks,

-Rob

Re: What to use to attach emblems?

Double side tape trimmed out neat with a razor blade will work but it takes a while to do it. There is some other stuff that is in strips that sticks on the emblem then the backing peels off and it makes the emblem sticky on the backside. It works real good but I can't remember the name of it other than it's made by 3M. Go to your local auto paint store and they should have something that will work.

Re: What to use to attach emblems?

In my business we use a 3M tape called VHB, Very High Bond. It is two sided and a lot thinner than the double faced foam tape you see at Office Depot. I have to order it though a supplier. I'd hit the body shop supply store if I were in your shoes.

I too stand behind 3M yellow W/s Adhesive in a tube. Here in cold, well salted streets of Canada I have used it for 20 years without fail.

Re: What to use to attach emblems?

The glue that is used to glue windsheilds in works great, just need to use a primer on the badge and also on the paint. That stuff is tough, I just used it to glue the F550 badge on a 2000 I just finished putting back together........... Jim

Re: What to use to attach emblems?

When the gasser was painted (if you can call it that) years ago, the badges I got from Ford had the factory addhesive material on the back. Just peel off and apply the badge. I guess the newer badges don't come with this adhesive eh? On the badges I has made for the project truck also came with an adhesive backing. Might want to give Steve at Billet Bages an email. I bet he can sell you some adhesive backing for your badges.
