whats this turbo setup worth????

Okay guys I have very limited info the turbo is on a 86 that has a 7.3 put in it and the owner (a very good reputable diesel shop owner) thinks the flywheel came loose however if he has to do any motor work and its not the flywheel he will not and he will sell me the turbo setup everything including exhaust will come with it and I'm assuming I will end up pulling it. And reinstalling it I don't know the brand but I do know it is not wastegated and he says to make good power the motor has to be running a lil harder! I have never put one on and I don't know what its worth or if it is worth the work to put on a old kinda beater truck. What would I notice as far as power and will it increase me mpg much? Thanks

MPG will drop at first as you play with it and then settle to maybe 1 MPG better than original if there is any improvement.

Full pulled kits tend to run about $800 (or less!) so it seems like if you have to pull it then over $600 is a little steep.

The non-wastegated turbos come on a little later, and make as much boost in the end when you actually need it (under heavy load). They don't come on so much later as to give you any really noticeable lag though.

I would hesitate to tell you any numbers, but you WILL notice a difference, and a big one.
