Question What's a used turbo worth?

My cousin has (2) older non- wastegated Banks turbo systems and (1) ATS turbo, I am assuming it is the factory version. Just wondering what they might be worth if in decent condition. Thanks.

I had to get one recently for a '93 that ate the air filter. It was $700, but got $100 off for pulling it myself.

They are for sale. However, I don't want to put them in the classifieds until they are in my possession and I can make sure they are complete and in good working order. That said, I am just wanting a ballpark value so I can set a fair and reasonable price when the time comes. Basically, I would like to know what other people have paid for their turbos so that I can sell them quickly once I do have them.

You could probably get $250-300 on ebay if it's in good useable condition. Not sure what it'd be worth to people on here, but there's always a market for hybrids on ebay (the factory ATS turbo is a T3/T04B hybrid)

Used Turbos

Personally I would give at the very most just a couple of hundred dollars for any one of them. You don't know their history in detail and I would never ever put one on my rig unless I had them rebuilt.
I sold my "Big Wheel" for 250 and will sell my stocker ( Garrett ) for 150 and neither one was abused or had a gazillion miles on them.
Just fyi.........

IMO there's different ways to approach their value.

1) When your work truck is down, and it NEEDS to get running again immediately - that's the $600-700 price I talked about. That was from an auto wrecker, incl. warranty, and plus sales taxes. And I consider that a good deal.

2) If some private dude has them for sale, and some guy is shopping around for odds and ends for a project, i.e. adding a turbo to an NA engine. Then I'd say a used turbo is worth less than that.

I called on one out here once and was getting serious till I downloaded the parts list/diagram from ATS. There are a lot of little things, brackets, valve cover etc. that make up a full kit for conversion. Unless I could strip off a complete set up, I gave up on finding a used one.

I'm talking about a full conversion for a non-turbo to turbo upgrade, not just the turbo itself. I remember seeing a complete kit on Ebay not too long ago for $700, that was for the factory ATS turbo, intake, downpipe, & brackets. I think $250-$300 is a little low, not even worth the time it would take to take it off the truck.

if you are taking everything off and have complete kits and you put them on here im sure you can get between 500-700 dollars. and you know what if you do not sell it for what you want put it on ebay and you will surely get that 500-700.

if it was an ats or hypermax i would gladly pay 700 for a complete turbo setup. im just not much of a banks man
