If you have a 10.25 Sterling axle you can replace the wheel at a later time and not have to pull the brakes again. Just 8 bolts on the axle and a locking nut in the hub and everything comes apart. I know, just did ones in my truck last weekend. Brakes, bearing and wheel seals. I will tell you , the wheel seal is a bear to get out of the hub, broke one bearing trying to get it out.

i've got the drum off & the fluid inside smells like brake fluid not gear oil, but if the drum on a 10.25 sterling will come off w/o pulling the axle thats is a trick i really do want to know.
sounds like the concurrence is if the seal isn't leaking now then dont replace it ?

the drum to hub fit on mine must be tighter than the one shown in the link because she dont look like it will seperate w/o a press.

yes, the dum will pound off. if you removed the axle and removed the wheel hub you MUST replace the seal. you disturbed it, and if you put it back toghther it WILL leak.
