Worst Case Senario

Ok so far on my new truck Ive lined up a full injector change, full service ie. oil, tranny, coolant, power steering and new glow plugs. The smoke is still bothering me, I picked up Haynes 10330 and read the part on the smoke diagnostics. Im not really sure if Im seeing white or blue smoke at idle though. Anyhow my question is worst case senario if the engines needs to be rebuilt what kinda price am I looking at or what are my other options?

worst case $3,000 to $6,000 USD depending on how much work you want to put into getting the motor like new... Been there done that both ways...

First time I rebuilt it
Second time purchased a long block (drop in and enjoy pretty much - some wrenching required)

Cost between the two - same once you added up all the reciepts. Both times cost me 6 grand But then again I don't like to reuse parts, I want it NEW under the hood - no problems that way... Some like to reuse as many parts as they can and that's fine but won't fly at my house... As I'm lazy and only want to be in there once...

Until you have done the injector and return cap/line change don't panic...

Unless it's using a lot of oil or has water in the oil, you should be able to fix it with what you are going to replace.
