ZF 5 spd acting funny?
I just put the single mass and new clutch in and a rebuilt transfer case. Because of the infamous ratteling flywheel and bent shifter fork because while I was driving the truck on the turn pike at about 60 MPH it all of a sudden BANGED horribly as if it popped out of gear. But it haden't. It was only a sec and I just kept going. Again about 5 mins later another loud gear bang followed by a loud high pitched metal to metal whine and then it went away I pulled over checked everything and drove it another 85 mile all was fine. The next day I did the t-case, Fly, and clutch. All was go for about a month until about a week I noticed it was alittle hard to shift from gear to gear under normal driving and then at about 25 MPH in I believe 3rd that loud bang again and now if you do not make sure it's all the way in Rev. it's popping out and grinding now.
By the way the veh is an 87 f-350 6.9 4x4 5spd 101,000 miles
Is it time for a rebuild.
