I have an 84 van, and you're right, it's @#$% hard to find the 16.5 tires.
I've been told I should go to 16 inch wheels.

I have another post, going now, that asks which vehicles have rims that will work.

My 1 ton hase an 8 lug pattern.
I'm pretty sure CSRadel's 3/4 ton would have the same pattern.

well you said it was an 8 lug, i have that. but is it a 8x6.5 like a chevy or dodge or an 8x170 like a newer model ford? yours may have an 8x6.5, id go out and measure it though. if it is an 8x6.5 and rim from late model chevy and dodge will fit being it in the 16" to 17" range

Most of the Chevy and Dodge rims won't fit over the Ford's hub unless they are aftermarket or you grind the centers out. Any Ford rim that is 8x6.5 should fit as long as it is a 16" or larger. The Superduty trucks changed their bolt pattern in 99 but the vans kept the 8x6.5 for quite a while. I am not sure if they have changed them yet. I have a set of rims with tires on them for an OBS truck or van depending on where you are at since shipping would kill your idea of cheap.

okay, its an 8x6.5 bolt pattern. they fit on the studs.. but they only go on about 1/4 inch before the rotor and caliper hit the rim. they came off a ford, i know that much, and it was a 77 f250. they fit on the back fine, they just hit on the front. what should i do? wheel spacers? do they make a smaller aftermarket rotor?

or you could do what bugman said and grind a little off the center of the rim

Go with the 16 inch like the stock 86 f-250 uses, they are a lot easier to find than the 16.5 inch. When I first bought my truck and needed a spare the local used tire shop had a whole pallet on brand new 16 inch rims for my truck.

nope the trucks are not made for a 15 inch rim the brakes are to big for the rim to slide over it. no way around it. get some 16 inch rims the a dime a dozen
