1984 Alternator interchange info - Diesel Forum

I need an alternator. I looked on ebay but there aren't any for the 6.9. So I need to know what other engines have the same alternator so I can find one that way. Thanks

i just replaced mine and i used one off a old big block i had laying around. you more than likely have the larger size alternator any larger size Ford alternator will work but check the amps you might get by with 55amp.

there were lots of the big alts used--on big ford cars--big lincoln would have the large amp--just may have to reindex the case for right terminal position---

Check out peddlerkid on Ebay. I bought a 70 amp ford remanufactured alternator for $10.00. He doesn't show anything now but it may be worth an email.
