87 6.9 Biodiesel Upgrade

I got 2 tanks with 2 rubber lines I think along the frame that meet into a electric thing that looks like a splitter that I believe that has to do something with the fuel tank switch @ the dashboard... Then one rubber line coming from that splitter that goes to the fuel filter. I am kind of wondering how many feet of bio diesel compatible hose do I need to buy and which lines I have to replace exactly. I will appreciate your help. I already bought 50 O viton Rings for about $10, the other questions are: do the return line caps crack after using biodiesel? and also the IDI pump seals will be damaged? Should I buy a sediment oil filter to add before or after the lift pump? I would like to make this baby Biodiesel compatible, not planing on using SVO at all. Thank your for your help and sorry for been dumb but every time I go to autozone, napa or other import auto parts stores keep telling me to go online.

Double check your fuel lines from the tank upto the water seperator, as they should be bio-safe hard plastic lines grey and blue. Unless someone removed the factory lines your already good upto the stock water seperator. The only other rubber lines are short pieces:
1. water seperator to steel line
2. steel line to fuel transfer pump (on the passenger side of engine)
3. injection pump return line at pump
4. return line at the back of engine

I too have an 87 and running 100% homebrew Bio with no issues. The above mentioned rubber hose connections I changed out a year ago when I had my engine out.

I did the same thing your talking about a while ago.

The only thing i'll add to 87CrewDually is all the rubber lines between your injectors. Its hard to find 3/16 bio compatible hose. I ordered it from McMaster-Carr

The plastic caps will be fine.

For all the other lines larger than 3/16, go to auto zone and ask for the "fuel Injection hose" It has a blue lining and Good Year makes it. Its good for bio.

dont know if you got a injector line kit. this is the one i got from napa been runining b100 since april with no problems. NAPA part number 2-18447. The fuel line and O-rings are Viton and compatible with Bio-Diesel.

i replaced the fuel lines on the rear tank when i replaced it with SAE 30R9 spec hose from autozone and napa and it works fine. i havent done anything with the front tank, the hoses seem fine. i also havent done anything with any of the other rubber lines. i do water wash my fuel, so there shouldnt be any menthanol or lye in it.
