Tach signal is generated by the sensor located in the top front of the engine. It sits just to the right if you are standing in front of the truck. It is mounted in the gear cover and will have two wires attached to it. As far as tapping into it for cruise, I don't know... mine has factory cruise. I am sure someone will answer that part.
