ENGINE CORE CHARGE

I have seen many sources for rebuilt 6.9 engines and all have a price (with a rebuildable core).

None of the adds state what a rebuildable core is valued at, or what the price would be if a person had no rebuildable core.

Does anyone know what the rebuilders value their (not someone elses) engine cores at?? -- complete engine, heads, covers, pan, water pump, starter, etc.

Re: ENGINE CORE CHARGE

Are you trying to find out what the value of a core motor is? Or are you thinking about buying a crate motor and don't have a core?

If you are wondering about value, I saw a 6.9 on ebay with a starting bid of $350 and it had two bids, neither of which made reserve. It was in Kalifornia though, so who knows what they are worth in the free world! (just kidding) Oh, and the one on ebay didn't have injectors, injector pump, lines or any of the fuel system. If I thought I could get $350 out of mine, I would sell it. I have an 85 sitting in my barn from a scrapped F350! Actually, I have the transmission and transfer case as well.

Re: ENGINE CORE CHARGE

Just like the question says, how much extra will the crate engine cost without a core to exchange??

Re: ENGINE CORE CHARGE

Some re-builder qualify the term core, as in rebuildable core.
As in fully assembled engine (core), no basket cases.

Check their websites for explaination, as I have

you answered your own question. if you have no REBUILDABLE motor to turn in, you forefeit the core deposit.

Your original post doesn't say that exactly, but the only way to know what that core charge would be is to check with one of the many that sell them!

I think he is asking what the $$ amount would be, but the way the question is worded, I was confused.

Re: ENGINE CORE CHARGE

I do sle. if the company in Texas give us our money back for the bad one they sent us and we had to ship back. Do you think if you hot run test an engine the smoke created by oil cunsumption of roughly one gallon per five miles is noticable? it was noticable to us but i guess they are checked by blind people before they get shipped. they might send another one though. i have to find out before i start saying i can buy it off you. but i need to know it is a wrking motor or close enough to it to not cost me more than i payed for my truck. You can P.M. me if the details you want.
