Found front D60 need advice

Hey there guys,

I have been looking for a front dana 60 for my pickup for several months and finally found one for $650. It is out of an 86, my question is, will this one work ok for me in my 87? Is it a kingpin style? Any major concerns to look for. Thanks in advance

Ben

Re: Found front D60 need advice

Good price. That year does use king pins. I've got a dana 60 I'm installing now and the biggest issue has been the front drive shaft. I'm trying to work out the clearence issue with the tranny crossmember. Dana 60 Post Here

I'm still waiting to find out what needs to be done. It looks like using a F350 tranny crossmember helps, but still need an answer on which drive shaft to use.

Re: Found front D60 need advice

You will need to use the F350 shaft and transfer case yoke. The crossmember in my 87 F250 worked fine with this setup and there was no need to use the F350 crossmember.

Re: Found front D60 need advice

So on my 87' I can use the same cross memeber but need the 350 t-case yoke and driveshaft? I will let you know what comes of this mod as it happens.

Thanks,
Ben
