Help !!!!

Hauling a load of sand in my '85 F-250 smoke started rolling from under the bed, Wires along the drivers side of frame rails were red hot and melted so I cut them close to the cab, Ended up burning completely the sending unit wires to the rear tank, ground wire to front tank and a main always hot wire in the other harness (I suspect this is where the prob started) My problem is the plug that goes to the rear tank is ruined, Do I need to go to a bone yard to get a new plug or is there a online source for this type of item? also I am having a hard time finding a schematic for the fuel system wiring beyond the fuel pumps, am I better off finding a donor truck to pull the whole harness for the rear of the truck and splicing it in ? Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: Help !!!!

There's no wiring for the fuel pumps, you have a mechanical fuel pump on the engine. There are only 2 wires going to each fuel tank, for the fuel level sending unit. Some of the other wires going back there are for the tank selector valve, or maybe one of the wires that burned is for the rear lights.

I think if you check with autozone or advance auto they'll have a pigtail for the top of the fuel tank sending unit. If I remember we bought one for a Ranger before.

Here is a complete wiring diagram, this is for '86 but I think it should be similar. http://community.webshots.com/album/202816966sObdCc
