IP Drive gear to engine timing?

If anyone knows of a previous post regarding new IP pump to engine timing/installation, would you please let me know, or fwd it along.
I just purchased a new IP (w/ housing attached) and already have this 6.9L opened up.
Thank you for any assistance.

Opened up? Did you remove or even loosen the 2 big bolts on the IP gear cover?
Because you Never want to do that unless you are doing a total rebuild. Of course unless your a diesel mechanic you don't want to turn a bolt until you have done some reading here.

Read this.

Since the IP is usually only good for about 100,000 miles and is under $500, why install a used one? With the gear and cover attached your's came off a used engine probably by someone looking for a fast buck. Why else would they ship you the gear and cover, that just raises the shipping cost.

OK opened up as in the IP and housing removed.... I hope not. If you have then re timing the engine gears is required ...... not hard but tiresome.

Visit.... "Talk about Timing!!"

Visit my photo link there may be some info there re the gears and timing marks..... Do not crank the engine over until you sort out were things go.
