Question Loss of turbo pressure, loss of power

Ok, here it one for you all. Truck runs fine, starts, rolls, gets up to speed, sounds ok, everything. But put in under a load, gutless. I can't seem to get more than 4psi of boost from the ATS turbo where I was getting 7 to 9 psi. I'm lucky to go 55 mph and feel like crap doing 35 mph up hills. The loss of power came with a interesting pinging/whine that turned into the same noise you would hear with an exhaust leak from the manifold. Looked the motor over and could not see any evidance of exhaust leak. The noise seems to be coming from the upper portion of the motor, right side. Could injectors cause any of this???

Just incase, 1984 f250 6.9 with ATS turbo, Racor heated filter, pretty much stock.

Do you think it's possible the turbo ingested something? That does a number on the turbine wheel (I know) and your boost levels will be reduced.

My guess would be an exhaust leak or your turbo is dead/dieing. The horrid noise could be your compressor or turbine wheel kissing their respective housings. I'd pull the intake off and have a look and a feel of the compressor side of things. Also, have a good look for leaks anywhere in the system.

Got the prblem fixed. Thanks guys. It was a loss of exhaust as one of the right exhaust manifold bolts actually fell ogg and another was loose. New bolt and tightened all the others, good as new. Also just reciently had the IP rebuilt. Winter is on the way and it seems like the truck is ready for it.
