Mud Racing

I'm wanting to get into mud racing at the local mud track and want some opinions. I'm really wanting to race a diesel. I 1st considered a 6.2 because a buddy has some cucv with motors but to sluggish. Found a cheap 6.9 but not sure what I could do with it. The track is set up like a road course, somewhat, afew turns not a straight shot kinda track. The motor would be going in a 79 f150.

you can see my truck sig. the 6.9 is great. but if i was going to race id go with a 5.9 cummins turbo diesel. we have one in our FL60 flat bed tow truck at work. that thing is faster on the road with a 10,000 pound truck on that my 6.9 is empty!

work truck - 86 Ford F250 with 6.9L Navistar IDI non-turbo diesel 4x4 dana 60 rear, dana 44 front, with 3.54s, C-6 with cooler, manual walbro frb-13 fuel pump, manual motor craft ZD-9 glow plugs, K&N air filter with homemade cold air intake and no soup bowl! napa heavy duty tractor truck batterys, homemade waist oils "conversion" burns everything also runing on B100. working on full work truck set up...
cruzin' car - 94 subaru justy 2 door hatchback 1.2L gas 5 speed everything works!

Thats what I was afraid of. I would love to have a cummins but so much money and I'm fixing to be back in school and working part-time. But hey I guess i better start saving now. Thanks
