Racor filter unit question, gas line question
Hi guys,
I ordered the racor PFF811 filter and bowl drain assembly. I am assuming I can just screw this into the filter housing behind the alternator and throw away the water seperator setup on the firewall that was already bypassed when I bought the truck ??? Am I right on about that ???
I also have some messed up fuel tanks. Someone added two tanks to the existing two for a total of four tanks. There are two manual tank switches by the drivers seat that have supply and return lines on each, and the stock electric switch under the truck, that does not seem to work. I am considering do I trouble shoot the electric tank switch, or do I bypass it completly and only use the manual switches someone has added??? They also added two toggle switches that tie into the gauge sending units and I can't seem to get readings no matter how I set those. I am thinking of eliminating two tanks and using two tanks, and just plumbing them through the manual switches. Anyone see a problem with that??? Can I use any fuel rated rubber hose as since I am going to do this, I may as well replace as much line as I can, will fuel hose collapse, deteriorate, etc. Also, what readings should I be getting off of the fuel sending units full verse empty electrically if I were to put a meter on the wires leaving the tank ???
Thanks a million for inputs. BTW, I towed the boat @ 100 miles round trip this weekend, and though power increase was not significant, I had NO PROBLEMS !!! I am sure a visit to a shop that can set up the timing on the IP will only help matters, just finding the time to get over there. Oh well, if I were out of work I'd have all the time in the world in a BAD way , so no complaints. You guys have really helped me rejuvinate this truck. Enough rambling.
Thanks for all the help,
Don T
