RACOR Fuel Filter w/Water Separator GONE

Sorry to inform, but Parker/Racor no longer makes the BF811 fuel filter with water separator. Anyone know of alternative solutions?

P.S. I'm familiar with using a 7.3L IDI fuel filter, but it screws onto the 7.3L fuel filter mount which I don't have. Shame it doesn't fit right onto the 6.9L fuel filter mount.

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to cross ref to WIX 33112 or other major brands.

Thanks cdnsarguy,

Will the WIX 33112 screw onto my existing 6.9L AND have a water sep built-in? Need both in one filter, as I've bypassed the orig water separator (leaked). Thanks again for help.

Sorry, but I'm confused. The WIX 33112 is an inner filter element that fits inside of a fuel filter assembly (GM style). Definitely nothing that I can use to replace my existing 6.9L fuel filter with a fuel filter AND water separator (like on the 7.3L).

I looked at the WIX site and found nothing in the cross ref of 33112. Also, the cross ref at RACOR showed only the Motorcraft FD811 which is a fuel filter only with NO water sep.

Again, without RACOR, there are no other alternatives? Thanks again for your help.

Spin on..BF1222-SP is the one with a drain valve for the 7.3

Spin on WIX 33617 is the one with drain valve for the 7.3

Try to cross ref them to the 6.9 filter header threads....

6.9... Thread Size: 7/8-14

7.3....Thread Size: 1-14

Sorry for the mix up above...... gotta put my glasses on more often.

Thanks for you efforts CDNS, but there's also a significant difference in rubber gasket size in addition to thread size. Gonna call WIX on Monday and see what they can come up with.

The stock water sep isn't leaking at the moment, but I'm sure will start leaking again once I hit a few bumps on the road. Played with the control cable a little and it apparently seated the close-valve adequately for now.

Still, I'll probably end up just installing a hose with pet**** valve on the stock water sep (underneath the drivers seat on an E350!) and drain occasionally. Also gonna see about restoring/replacing the O-ring on top of the water sep before it starts to let air in as well. Interesting to see if the stock water warning light in the dash still works!

P.S. At least the 6.9L fuel filters are CHEAP!

Did you ever find a cross reference? Last winter I ended up bypassing mine and just running without it for a couple months till my trans pooped out on me. I'm having the trans rebuilt finally and need to find some sort of replacement as I don't want to risk running without it.

Hi Jeeper,

Never found a CHEAP replacement, although RACOR makes a $100ish replacement if you want. My solution was to simply use the old water sep because it still had the water sensor on it that reported to my dash via idiot light.

If you still have yours and want to do the same:

1) Remove and dismantle the water seperator.

2) Tap a 10mm thread in the bottom hole and screw in a bolt with rubber/steel washer (Lowes).

3) Remove the existing plunge valve from the main top bolt (aluminum) and thread that hole in the bolt with another 10mm

4) Screw in another 10mm bolt with rubber/steel washer from Lowes.

NO problems so far. Benefit? I can still crawl under the vehicle and unscrew the bottom bolt to drain water IF the water sensor shows water in the system. If not, I have no worries but still have the protection and working idiot light.

Only possible problem that I can see is the rubber/steel washer from Lowes. Have no idea how long it'll last with diesel. Let you know.

Sorry for the late thank you...never got around to getting back to this thread, ended up smoking the trans in the diesel and got it back this winter only to have the headlight switch/harness go followed by a burnt up starter. Still running without the separator and had some gel issues this morning as I've been running #2 and we hit the high 20s. Figured its time to start looking at a new filter anyway, so I'm back to the search for a combo unit, but if I don't find something I'll probably rig the old water separator back up, as it wasn't leaking I just thought it was and bypassed it to get it running and never got around to hooking it back up.

**Edit**
Are you sure they don't make them anymore? Parker still lists it on their site and I found a few places selling them.

I used a primary off of a Gradall. If you check ebay from time to time you should find some
thing you can use. Ebay #330555767840 if it's not to large.

You might use this as well. All available on ebay and not too pricey
WIX Filters : Filter Look-Up I believe the 33418 is what I have on mine Correction, I have 33439 on mine which uses a different base which Ii have on the frame. The 24309 base with the 33123 would probably work as good replacement for the firewall mounted separator. The 33418 may be to large.

I believe summit racing has a complete header and FF/water sep assembly. I think it's a pet**** in the filter design. I haven't looked at them in awhile but I probably will be soon. I have one of the last of the Racors.

That was what I was leaning towards as well, pretty cheap to implement.
