reinstall injection pump - Diesel Forum

I removed pump by removing the tower. Would not run when replaced. Then did Ziggs method to put tower and gear back. Can't seem to work pump back in with lines still connected to pump. Is there a trick to work assembly back in?
I marked pin location (straight down) and think pump was timed right first time. Problem was the replacement pump had a stuck metering valve.

Normally........ I put lines on after IP is installed. Try loosening the lines at the IP end so they will be moveable. The gear dowel should be at the 4 oclock position if the engine is at TDC compression stroke, 11 oclock if at TDC exhaust stroke.

Timing is done at the top of the gear housing and IP flange joint, should be a line to use on both parts. Check my photo link for IP R&R info
