should I? change the weight on my tags?

Ok i got my truck yesterday and transfered the tags today from my 81 f150 which was listed as 4000lbs, $108 later (Tax Title and Tags) they have it listed as 5000lbs? the vin points out that it is a F250HD 8501 to 9000lbs? should i get it changed? or just don't tow any thing large?

The truck already weighs over 5000lbs and the GVW would be about 8800lbs, CGVW .......something in tow could be around 12000lbs legal.

Depends how your state registers vehicles. By empty weight, GVWR or GVW (max weight). Different states do it differently.
