Re: tranny shifts hard

You may want to do a vacuum test first before you start adjusting anything. Are your brakes working ok?

Check Pete's Gallery for the test and some other goodies.
Has steered lots of folks in the right direction.

Re: tranny shifts hard

I too have a little bit of hard shifting on my '86 E-350 6.9 C-6. Pete's gallery gives a test for the vacuum pump but I didn't see anything about adjusting the throttle pressure sensor on the throttle linkage. Can someone tell me where to find that information?

Re: tranny shifts hard

i found a spring unhooked on the throttle link not sure what it does but i put it back. if the thing was rebuilt wrong would this cause it to do this? about vacuum would a loose belt cause bad vacuum?

Re: tranny shifts hard

A loose belt could cause low vacuum and low vacuum=hard shifts so it's a possibility. Was the spring holding up the downshift rod ? The downshift rod has enough weight to hold the lever on the trans down---hence the reason for the spring.
