Question '04 tailgate on '08 F-350?

My new F-350 has the "easy lift" (or whatever it's called) tailgate, this has a torsion spring in the tailgate that makes it easier to close, which is nice. It also makes the tailgate much heavier, but that's another problem.

Anyway, I pull a fifth wheel and have a tailgate what I swap out to for that purpose. The driver's side tailgate hinge pin assembly on the new truck is different (a blade) than what was on my '04 Superduty (a big round pin).

The tailgate goes ON, but it's not optimum. Anybody make an adapter/shim, or is there another cool fix for this?

Thanks!

V gate

I also use an older v gate that actually works on my 08. What I did was buy some large diameter hose (clear) it's available at Home Dpot or Lowes. I cut an 1" section off and slipped it on the gate or on the pin on the truck. It fills the gap. Works great.

I have a Handy Industries V gate. They have an adapter plug that fits in the tailgate and matches the pin your talking about.
