05 F-350 trailer wiring needs

I have 05 f-350 cc dually, tow command system. The previous owner put a 6-way plug in place of the 7-way and i need to wire it back up. My question, does anyone have a wiring schematic with the colors and stock wire locations of where they were on the 7-way??

The previous owner cut the wires so the quick connect option is out.

Re: 05 F-350 trailer wiring needs

I also went ahead and put in my gooseneck plug in the bed today. Solder all my connections, sealed the holes. Last thing to do is put the last 6" of wire in some loom and wrap with tape. I had a whole roll of elextrical tape and misplaced it somewhere.

While i was testing it out,i managed to accidentally blow the fuse for the trailer parking turn signals. I accidently touched the ground and left turn signal when using my test light.

20 amp fuse under the hood. I didn't have a 20 amp mini in my collection but had a 25, should this be okay as a temp fix till i get some more assorted fuses??

Re: 05 F-350 trailer wiring needs

If you are 100% certain that the wire for that circuit is not grounded, you should be OK TEMPORARILY. The problem is that the additional 5 amps exceed the capacity of the wire it supplies and you could end up melting a wire, or worse starting a fire.
If the circuit is functioning normally (no dead ground) it will not cause any problems, but there is no way to tell.
I would suggest you put in a smaller amp fuse if you have one. Better safe than sorry.

Re: 05 F-350 trailer wiring needs

thankfully i am 100% certain there are no issues. I just accidentally grounded it out using my test light. I was able to find a 15 amp fuse, will put that in tomorrow evening. Didn't figure it would cause a problem since the fuse only gets used if a trailer plugged in.
