08 F450+5th wheel

Looking at getting an 08 F450 to replace my 03 F450. When I 1st got mine I had to go through Manning Equipment to put a regular bed but found out after I took delivery it would not fit under my 1999 Travel Supreme.

Having said that, what kind of clearance do you have between the top rail of the bed of the truck and the fiver? Also what is the ground height at the end of the truck bed rail.

I was curious as to how much that Manning bed cost you brand new for your truck? I have a 550 that came with the same bed and I'm looking to get rid of it , and yes it is close to our camper, but not too bad.
The new 450s don't seem to have any problem with clearance.

thanks!

I have a 08 F450 and a 08 mobile suite. Distance from the ground to top of bed rail at rear corner is 56 inches (empty). When I'm hooked up I have about 8 inches between 5er and bed rail. Hope this helps Hogman

The bed clearance should be easy to fix with the height adjustments that your hitch has. I have a 30k gooseneck ball installed in my bed with gooseneck adaptor installed on 5er pin box and currently set at it lowest setting has about 8 inches between 5er and bed.

Other than the goose being slightly harder to hook up I love it. Super easy to have full use of your bed. Costs just a little more for the hitch and adaptor than a 20 to 24k 5th wheel hitch. Overall very pleased with it.

My 2007 Teton has good separation between the F450 truck bed and trailer. I did have the dealer raise my Teton about 4" though as the rear skids would hit on driveways but it is now perfectly level and no height or space concerns regards the Ford.
