1600 Mile Trip

Well, as many others have posted about their great towing experiences, I have decided to do the same.

Towed our 30’ TT up to Bar Harbor, Maine a little over a week ago and towed it back down on Monday. Trip was about 800 miles one way. TT weighs in at around 9.5k and the truck towed it like there was nothing behind it. Traveled at about 70mph the whole time and saw about 11mpg hand calculated. Kept the tach just under 2k while cruising on level ground, little more going up hill, little less coming down.

Re: 1600 Mile Trip

Yep I just got back from a month long trip up to the Wisconsin Northwoods, total up and back was about 2400 miles plus whatever driving we did after unhooking. Weighed myself on the scales coming back and came in right at 19K total. My trailer is 13'4" at its tallest but managed to get an overall of 11.4 mpg, and that's with 100+ temps coming home and a south wind through Ks. and Ok. I tried to keep my speed so I was just at 2k on the rpm's. Very happy with the truck so far, and love the tow/haul mode when I pulled off the interstate and coasted up the ramps to the stop without hardly touching my brake pedal. BTW Greenie I lived on the old Loring AFB for 3 yr, my father flew the B52's out of there in the late 60's. Beautiful place.

nope, we stayed at the KOA just as you get on to Mt. Desert Island coming from Ellsworth. I did, however, shop up there at the Bangor Mall area before heading out to the Island. I went to school up at U Maine so I am familiar with the area.
