2 tow or not with E450 with ambulance pkg

have 04 E450 cutaway with ambulance pkg. bought to tow fifthwheel trailer. worried now that received Ford's body builders layout book which says:
1. tow pkg was not available with ambul. pkg. (because why????)
2. an ambulance is not to be used as a tow vehicle

i had assumed i could add/change any items such as trans cooler to create my own aftermarket tow pkg. thiswill not be an actual ambulance of course.
1. is there anything inherent in the ambulance pkg that will prohibit my creating a tow vehicle from this E450?
2. will i have trouble installing a prodigy bc without plug-in inharness?
3. if can be a tow vehicle, what other things will i need to change, what problems am i gonna encounter?

thanks for the help!

Re: 2 tow or not with E450 with ambulance pkg

I can answer #2. I would be suprised if Ford built a separate dash harness to eliminate the plug in for the BC, but if they did, then you can still "kick it old school" and run the blue/orange wire down the frame and add the breakers under the hood. This is how it was always done until the manuf. got wise and figured out that most trucks needed this so why not do it at the factory.

Re: 2 tow or not with E450 with ambulance pkg

I think they mean that an outfitted ambulance cannnot be used as a tow vehicle. They are pretty heavy with body and equipment. Don't see why a ambulance chassis cannot be used as tow vehicle. Just cover all your bases with the tow prep etc. and you should be ok.

Re: 2 tow or not with E450 with ambulance pkg

Also I think the ambulance package is a lot of the same stuff as the tow package, therefore you cannot order them both, or you would be paying double for some of it. I think the cannot tow with ambulance thing is probably lawyers talking but who knows.
