2001 Excursion brake controller hookup?

Hooking up a brake controller to the truck this weekend. Looks like there is a place to splice in the 4 wire controller under the hood "next to master cylinder" and under the dash also. Why is there two places for the hookup? What is the best way? Thanks, Jeff

You do not have to splice anything. Mine came with a pigtail in the glove box that wired to the brake controller and just plugs in under the center part or the dash. Most good brake controllers can be bought with a pigtail for the controller and specific truck you have so you just plug in.

Those are not for a brake controller. What you are looking at are customer access wires. If you want to wire something on the outside of the truck you can use them. The wires you had seen on the inside are the same wires in the engine compartment. They have these so you do not have to drill holes in the firewall.

Thanks again, took maybe a whole 10 minutes and $15 for the pigtail.
