3500 lb. rated tires for 16' wheel?

Is there such a thing? And even if there were, how do I know the steel wheels are even up to the task?

Two 7k single wheel axles under a 4k lb. trailer and want to haul 10k.

Thanks,

Re: 3500 lb. rated tires for 16' wheel?

Remember that some of the weight, even with a bumper pull trailer, will be on the hitch. So if your trailer is going to gross 14K, max weight on the axles will be 13,600 or so. If towing a gooseneck trailer, even more will be on the truck axles.

You need to get a 235-85R16G tire. It should be rated for 3750 pounds assuming your wheels can handle the added air pressure.

Dave, I think he meant trailer tire.

Anyway, I have these Greenball Towmaster II tires on my 5th wheel and have not had any problems.

http://www.greenball.com/tires/towmasterii.htm

They have a ST235/80r16E at 3500# per tire. I only have the ST235/80r16D tires. The web site shows 3000#, but my sidewall shows a rating of 3250# per tire.

Re: 3500 lb. rated tires for 16' wheel?

Glad to know there are some options, although I can't find anyone on the net willing to sell the Greenball tires. I would assume my disount tire can order them for me.

Thanks

Re: 3500 lb. rated tires for 16' wheel?

Couple of names for you to Google

SuperCargo Radial Trail 235 85 16
14 PLY Load Range G 3750 at 110PSI cold
I have 5 of these and they are about a year old. The 6th picked up a nail in the sidewall and was ruined. The others are wearing very well so far. Not sure who or where these are made???

Avantire Radial
14 PLY Load Range G 3758 at 110PSI Made in China.
Only been on for a couple of months. So far so good.

Either of the two types of tires $120 each mounted balanced.
