Re: 5th wheel hitch
Armypilot,
I have a big superglide hitch (see my signature) and I don't think you'll have any problems with your exhaust. I believe that the hardware that holds the hitch to the frame is on the outside of the frame and you can see it from the wheel wells above the tires. Since your exhaust should be on the inside of the frame and slightly lower I don't see a problem. In any case, if there were to be a clearance issue you would find out during installation. 'Probably a good idea to pay the dealer to take care of the installation. These are not your normal everyday hitch. As you know, they work differently than other 5th wheel hitches and they are HEAVY! I got an electric hoist and installed it on the ceileng of my garage so I can back the truck under it, lift the hitch out, drive out of the way, lower the hitch onto a furniture dolly and move it into a corner out of the way.
I sort of committed overkill with a 24k hitch, but I just didn't want to be near weight capacity so a 16k was out of the question and Superglide doesn't make an 18K, 20k or 22k. 'No problem for me. Although these hitches are pricey I don't regret a dime of the money. I feel that I have the best made and safest hitch available and that's worth a lot to me.
Good luck and let me know how things come out.
