5th Wheel Hitch

I've got a 96 f-350 CC Long Bed PSD. Any recommendations for a 5th wheel hitch? Hitch weight for my camper is 1146 with a base weight of 6746 and carrying capacity of 2399. I'll also be triple towing a 4wheeler or a jon boat occasionally.

Thanks,

Matt

You will get lots of members teling you what they have is the best. I say just get one that is rated for your weights and then some. I went to camping world and got a ROBIN 2 axis hitch. It was cheaper than the REESE I wanted but it is rated for 16,000 lbs and 3750 lbs for the pin. Since my truck is not rated for that much I figured it was fine. Pulled my 9K fiver across the country and back in July with out any problems.

Ever think about fifth wheel to gooseneck conversion. I have that and I think it's the greatest for a guy who has a four wheeler. When the trailer is off the truck, you can still have the whole bed for your machine, without having to take the regular fifth wheel hitch out.

Must be nice to be allowed to "B" train behind a pickup...not allowed here.

In Calif. You can IF you have a CDL and Brake endorsement. And the total length can't be greater than 65'. I have thought about it, but that's about as far as I have gotten

Besides I think you have to have Fifth wheel in bed not goose neck for double trailer set-up

Almost any of the 16K or more hitches should serve you just fine. There are lots of choices and not too much difference between most.

Here are some links to mfgs and some online stores for price shopping.

Collection of links related to RVing

Here more discussions about 5th wheel hitches.

Thanks everyone. Ended up getting a smokin deal on used Reese 15K Pro Series. I know there are better, but this was a great deal and I dont plan on anything more than 4-5 hours away.

Question: MO has a length limit of 65 feet for triple towing. i think I'll be around 68....anyone have any comments on towing triple?

Thanks again.

I do it all the time. 22+foot tow vehicle + 25' 5er plus 10' golf-cart trailer. LEOs in Texas never give me a second glance.

One thing I learned is to be sure you have a sway control on the tag trailer hitch. Without the sway control, when the 5er makes a little bobble, the tag makes a BIG bobble. I use a $100 EAZ-Lift friction sway control bar, and it works fine to stop the tag from jumping around behind the 5er.

I do it with no problems at all. 26' trailer,5x8 dirt bike trailer with 2 or 3 bikes ,gas cans and generator. I pull it at 65 or less mph. Works well for me.

I had the Reese 24K puck system in my 7.3L. I will put one in my 450 also. The 2011 shows an integrated set up combining the fifthwheel and the gooseneck. Not sure of the rating on this gooseneck set-up but the older set-up had a seperate gooseneck adapter that you could puck into the truck and it was rated for 30K That may be the way I go.. have to do a little more research.

Anybody have an idea about what the new truck was showing in the prelimenary photos let me know.
thanks
