5th wheel hitch review

Hi All,

Just wanted to drop a note on my new 5th wheel hitch.

I got a Curt MFG Q5 slider 5th wheel hitch, 20K rated.
I could not be happier with it!
I works awesome and was an excellent value.

Hitch with slider and mounting rails was 749.00 plus 149.00 install. And Layton Truck and Equipment did an outstanding job on the install.

Now I know that 20K is overkill for my 8k trailer. But the Curt 20K hitch was less money than the Reese and Drawtite 16K sliders were here in town. Plus the 20K slider is beefy. Also the hitch itself has a unique design that I really like too.

Check out their web site for more information.
Curt

I orginally wanted their 16K hitch the E5 but Layton does not stock it so it would have only saved my 50 bucks. However on the web the E5 slider was going for 549.00.

Anyway not a brand I have seen mentioned here and wanted to share my experience.

Tim

Re: 5th wheel hitch review

Looks nice, you can't go wrong with more weight capacity than you need. And if you buy a heavier trailer later on then you won't have to buy another hitch.
The plate almost looks like a Binkley/Holland. I really like the B/H and have a 32K head that's mounted on a 4" gooseneck tube for an inverted 5th wheel set up. Been thinking about converting it to use in my truck. Someday.

Re: 5th wheel hitch review

'Looks good. I went with the Superglide in my sig mostly because of the narrow street that I live on and stabbing that long rig into the driveway. I went with the 24k capacity (overkill) because I thought the 16k was borderline for my 14,000 rig and the 18k Superglide hadn't come out yet.
Ain't these sliders great!

Re: 5th wheel hitch review

I went with the Air Hitch Technology 25K hitch for my 15,000# 5'ver. I can't say enough about how great this hitch is. It takes all of the bounce, banging and roll out of towing and makes it much easier on the trailer, the truck as well as me and the DW.
