We have been trying to install an in-bed connector for our 5th wheel. No wiring diagram we look at seems to work. The problem is that when I hook the green wire, from the kit, which connects the running lights, to the orange wire, for running lights on the truck 7 pin, the running lights stay on the entire time. The light switch is in the off position, yet the running lights on the camper are on!? The lights work normally when I plug the cord into the original plug in, just won't work right with the new plug. I went to the Ford Dealer today and they could not help me, then went to the camper dealer, who I bought the plug and wire from and they told me to bring it in. This is my last ditch effort before I pay to have something corrected that could be simple! Any suggestions?
I just put a connector in the bed of my F350. I located it just above the rear tie-down on the driver's side. Drilling the hole was probably the hardest part of the job. I did use the connector from
5th Wheel Trailer Harness 7 Way For Chevy, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC and Dodge Pickup Trucks 20110 & 20111 which made it pretty easy. There was plenty of room for the wiring. Two things that made it easier was to put masking tape where you want to drill the hole. This will let you line it up exactly where you want it. Secondly, unbolt the bracket for the OEM plug. This will make it a lot easier to make all of the connections.
I did put some pictures on my WEBSHOTS page if you want to take a look.
