97 F250 Trailer Brake Signal Not Getting Out, need info

How ya'll doin? I have a 97 250 HD, i've had the truck now for about 5 years. I noticed sometime back my trailer brakes quit working, long story short whoever installed the brake box before i ever owned the truck did a real messy job. So i bought a new brake box and all the fixins to tap into the circuits in the dash and the rear of the truck, i used the factory harness that plugs right into the in cab provision and tee connectors at the rear for the lights and hardwired my own brake circuit. Well i did a beautiful job, but no brakes still. I guess my big question to start with is does the signal for the trailer brakes go through the turn signal switch? (my turn signal switch needs replaced, i just havent got to it) also all 3 fuses under the hood for the trailer are blown... since i tapped the truck lights for trailer lights they still work, but would the turn signal switch mess with those as well? Thanks in advance for any help

I would suspect it might since engaging the signal switch disengages the brake light on that side and sets it to blinking.

im sure you already checked this, but the same thing happened to me and it was just a little corrosion in the plug between the truck and trailer. lites worked, no or very little brakes.
