99 F450 trailer brakes

OKay so my F450 was a service rig before I got it. all I could find was a flat 4 pin connector at the rear and it probably had never had a trailer hooked up to it.
So I bought a new brake controller and Ford harness and installed it. I wired up a 6 pin plug and checked everything and all turn signals , brake lights etc work. The only thing that does not work is my trailer brakes.
Question... is there any special fuse or relay that maybe is missing? I couldnt find anything in the manual.
TIA

Re: 99 F450 trailer brakes

All the fuses for the Trailer wiring are located under the hood, located on the Driver's fender closer to the Brake MC than the battery.

Have you checked to make sure you don't have power at the pin on the plug you wired up? Could be a ground problem. Other thing to check is to make sure that the way you wired up the plug is the same as the trailer. I bought an adapter to go from RV 7 to 6 pin and it was different than our small enclosed trailer. I had to open the adapter and rewire the brakes and the 12v constant.

Re: 99 F450 trailer brakes

got it...one wire was incorrectly wired from the trucks harness and fuse(max 30 amp)was missing....truck as stated was a service body and probably has never been hooked to a trailer before. Everything works great now..thanks
