Advice on LED lights

I'm going to put 4 six inch oval led lights on the back of my trailer, but after looking at the various types I'm confused. Some say that the more led's in the lights are better, and some say the less led's are better. What gives? Can anybody shed some light on this? (No pun intended)

Re: Advice on LED lights

The more diodes the brighter = better.

I run these on all my equipment, you wont find a better light or better price. Make sure the elctrical connections are covered in grease and you wont have any issues.

Re: Advice on LED lights

That's what I thought - the more led's the better & brighter. But after reading more I saw that more lights mean more chance for diode or resistor failure. Now I'm confused.

Re: Advice on LED lights

Do yourself a favor and stick with a good name brand light like Trucklite. The junk you get at the truck stops on the wall are not up to the test when it comes to the shock and moisture they will get on the back of a trailer. I run Trucklite 4in. super 44's with 6 diodes (4 reds and 2 Amber's)on over 30 Flat bed trailers and have good luck with them. I have tried other brands and they seem to draw condensation and burn out the diodes one at a time. Nothing looks worse than having mismatched bulbs with different number of diodes and brightness or partially burned out bulbs on the back of a trailer. They also make the oval lights you are looking for.

Re: Advice on LED lights

I second what Elkchazer said. Cheeper lights usually the one's with more diodes will burn the diodes out faster. Usually start to look like crap after a 6 months. Friend put the same brand you were looking at on his trailking beavertail and ended up replacing them less than a year later. Trucklite, Peterson, Grote, are the big three trusted brands.

Re: Advice on LED lights

I must be the only one who has had no problems with those lights. I own about 60 of the ovals I linked to on ebay, over 300K on most without a burned out diode or moisture......but the more expensive dimmer brand names will work great also
