Anyone ever have any problems with their ABS conflicting with their brake controller. When stopping my trailer has started jumping violently. I am thinking it is the antilock brakes being amplified thru the trailer brakes. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Not sure about the trailer other than they are electric and on all 3 axles. The contoller is a Drawtite Activator II.

I'm pretty sure it is wired to the brake switch. I'll check, I had it installed and did not do it myself. Any other ideas?

Maybe you have it adjusted too high. With brakes on all three axles, that's a lot of braking power. I've not heard of one back feeding through and messing up the ABS.

I dont think I have it too high. I usually dont set it over 3.5 and that is on really heavy loads. 2.5 is probably average. Its not really backfeeding and screwing up the abs, it seems to be the other way around. Its kinda hard to explain but here goes: abs works by applying and releasing the brakes several times a second in order to keep the tires from locking up, right? So it feels as if this applying and releasing is amplified thru the trailer and it "pulses" violently, and ofcourse if you re really on the brakes hard it shakes the truck violently causing your foot to jump up and down on the pedal making the problem much worse! Does that description make sense?

As I understand it, the antilock only takes effect if you are in a potential or actual skid situation. There would be no signal from the antilock in a moderately normal stopping situation. I have felt the antilock a time or two when driving solo, but never when towing (and I never want to).
Just by chance, it doesn't do it only when the turn signals are on does it? Like it could be a wire touching in the plug? Just a thought today.
