air bag question

I just installed a set of Firestone ride rites.
When you guys set up with your trailer do you adjust the bags to set the truck back to unloaded hight or an inch or two less?

I just went through quite an excercise with Ride Rites. IMHO, If you have the type mounted on the outside of the frame (p/n 2071) I wouldn't let it drop more than an inch. The reason is that the Ride Rite brackets will interfer with each other reducing your 'bottom out' clearance by about 2". Granted I had a much heavier load than you do. However, if you have inside frame set (p/n 2400) there will be no problem. Just set it so that your headlights don't blind oncoming traffic at night.

I agree. I have the inboard one so once I hook up, I just fill the bags until the truck is sitting level again and off I go.

I set mine so the trailer is level, which puts me down about 1 or 2 inches from stock on the back of the truck. I've found that this also improves my ride in the cab a bit by keeping me up off the overloads, but not having the air bags so stiff.

I keep mine around 15-20 empty and 30 loaded, usually I forget to release air, but it rides like or better then caddy with the air in them. They are mounted outside the frame rails.
