Air/electric Brake Controller

I am in the process of restoring a '59 White Diesel winch truck. My plans are to install a gooseneck hitch to be able to pull my flatbed trailer and haul my hay equipment. The trailer has tandem 12,000# axles with electric brakes. I have heard about a brake controller that works off of air pressure when the truck's brakes are applied. Anyone know about these controllers and where to get them?

Re: Air/electric Brake Controller

Kelsey-Hayes used to have one on their website that was like the 81740c but I couldn't find it now.
BrakeSmart can be used with the air transducer but the cost.....
Also you can use an inertia type by installing a separate brakelight switch to activate it.

Re: Air/electric Brake Controller

<font color="green">A lot of old air-brake trucks had controllers that had a switch that worked off the brake-pedal.

Any of the controllers that are triggered by the brake-light circuit will also work on air-brake vehicles.

Re: Air/electric Brake Controller

A standard electric brake controller wouldn't be a problem. I can just connect it to the brake light pressure switch. I had been told that the air/electric controller gave better response, but if it's not available I'll install one that works off the brake light switch.
