Airlift Airbags on '06 F350 DRW?

I am wanting to put on Airlift Airbags on my dually but I am not sure if it will work. I have the camper package so it has the extra overload over the axel. The kit has parts to attach it directly to this spring or to the main leafs. Only thing is, if it is attached to the top overload, it looks like it will only have room to compress about 2-3" before it bottoms out.

Should I take the top overload off?

My Lance 1181 camper squats this truck

Re: Airlift Airbags on '06 F350 DRW?

I have a brand spanking new Artic Fox 990 that I put on brand spanking new '06 F350 CC dually with the camper package. My AF990 weighs in at about 3800 and we don't even have it fully loaded with all our gear yet. It squatted the truck more than I liked. It dropped the rear about 6 inches. I thought about air bags but I learned from personal experience that steel will outlast rubber by a long ways. I recently lost a '00 F350 SC SRW PSD that was carrying a '97 Caribou (3500 lbs) that I had custom overloads made. That set-up was so stable that I could take it through the Idaho mountains at posted speed without excessive or scary sway. I didn't have this new Artic Fox on for one day before I decided to add to the overload. Since adding 5 more springs (5/8" x 3") per side, my rear is up 3" and I am only 3" away from empty bed height. Also, the handling characteristics of the truck are greatly enhanced even with nearly two tons on it's back. I my opinion, springs don't need maintence or pressure monitoring, they won't leak or rupture like some air systems that I have read about, and they won't change the ride of an empty truck. So, as you can tell, I prefer steel. Let me add that I also tow a 3-horse slant trailer that weighs about 8500 lbs fully loaded. Getting the rear end up for proper hitch set-up was important to me too. I do use a weight distribution set-up for obvious reasons.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Re: Airlift Airbags on '06 F350 DRW?

I put Air Lifts on my 05 CC,LB,DRW with TowBoss pkg...it has the overloads...the bags sit on top of the overloads an your right...it seems like there isnt enough room...but they fit in nicely and I only need to run the min. 5psi unloaded...and with the 40'5th wheel Toy Hauler, 3/4 loaded, I put in 10psi(before hitching up trailer)and the truck handles great and sits perfectly level.

I have a Husky 16K 5th wheel hitch and used Valley Idustries no-drill rail mounts and used Air Lifts no-drill kit...I then modded the Air Lift brackets to fit over the Valley rail mounts and welded them together for a compleate no-drill mounting system...
