That Maxxis is an ST tire. Your posts in this thread 235/85R16 tires helped convince me that I shouldn't take the higher weight ratings of ST tires too seriously, compared to LT tires, because they are rated to different standards or built-in safety margins. The difference being passenger carrying and the higher standards required for steering and braking.
Anyway, I ended up buying the Bridgestone Duravis R250 all steel, all position LT tires. A little cheaper than the XPS Ribs. I haven't towed much with them yet, but I do feel very confident about them from posts I've read on the rv.net forum. It seems that mostly motorhome users are familiar with them.
