Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

I've read that people seem to have mixed feelings about E track for tying down vehicles. Some like it, some don't trust it. Does anyone know what it is rated for when put down in trailer floors? It can be very convenient, but I wonder about it. Seems like in my cargo trailer the only thing holding it down are screws. If it was welded to cross members though, could it be trusted?

Re: Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

I have it in my trailer. I have eight grade 5 bolts on each end with fender washers and nuts under the trailer and 1/4 inch lag bolts in every other hole across the span. I trust it and it has not budged since I put it in. They rate the tie down links for what, 6000 lbs or something? It is plenty strong but I too would be apprehensive about using it for a car. I use it for motorcycles and a golf cart.

I want to put it in a wood decked equipment trailer. Downside is that it would get wet and might not weather well. But it would really be convenient.

Re: Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

Its damn near impossible to find and actual working load limit for E-track. IF you cant find the actual working load limit then I wouldn't trust it for more than a toaster.

Re: Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

I've had no issues using it to tie my racecar down. I strap the car at all 4 corners and haven't had any issues.

Re: Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

From what I've been able to find on the net, looks like 2000 lbs working load limit. Probably not the best option for exterior use.

Re: Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

I have seen some E track that was 3/16" or 1/4" thick seemed like pretty strong stuff but it still didn't have a rating so that bothered me.

Blk88gt have you had a wreck with the car strapped down like this? im sure going down the highway it does fine but what about when the $*** hits the fan?

Re: Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

Plenty of people have hit me unloaded, but I've never had the misfortune of being hit when towing. The way enclosed trailers are built, I don't think it would be pretty no matter what happened. I don't see any flex in the bracketry when ratcheting the car down, and I haven't had any cause for concern. I use a friends H+H 28 foot enclosed.

When I use my open trailer, I go to the frame, D drings, or stake pockets. I don't think I'd bother with E track on an open trailer.

Re: Anyone know what E Track is rated for?

I got turned on to macscustomtiedowns.com 2550# at 90 degree angle, so where at 5500# straight on. You just plug in what ever hook you want into the track and remove it when your done. So far I love it!! They also have heavy duty tie downs that click into two spot for double the #'s

i have bought direct, but you can get it at truck/trailer/semi supplies. rating seems to depend on which one (alum or steel).
