Anyone still hauling FEMA trailers??

Just wonered who's left. I gave it up 2 months ago in favor of pounding nials down here on the gulf. Just too much wear and tear for a buck a mile. Got this from my broker today just in case some of y'all are still hauling.

"DRIVERS THAT SLEEP OR USE THESE UNITS FOR PERSONAL USE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRANSPORT FOR FEMA AGAIN! IN ADDITION, THE CARRIER WILL BE SUBJECT TO LOOSING THEIR CONTRACTING RIGHTS TO HAUL FOR FEMA AND BE CHARGED FOR SANITIZING THE UNIT."

So now you gotta sleep in your truck and if you get caught fined by DOT or rent a hotel. Just no $ in it anymore...........

Re: Anyone still hauling FEMA trailers??

Too many slobs were trashing the units in transit and not giving a thought about it. They figured since it was hooked to their truck it was for their personal use.

It's pretty sad when you have to TELL someone, "don't sleep in or use a trailer that doesn't belong to you".

Re: Anyone still hauling FEMA trailers??

My dad once looked at a new motorhome that was discounted very heavily. Why? The driver smoked cigars in it all the way from California to South Carolina! I think that was the last trip for that driver

Why would I lie about something like this? If you want to place a wager on it I will be more than happy to find a 3rd party to broker the bet.

Re: Anyone still hauling FEMA trailers??

From what I heard it was 1.08 a mile I know one person who was getting 1.36 a mile and that is the highest I've heard. To make that you would have to have a rollback with a 40 flatbed being pulled behind it so you can run 2 and one time or run doubles of them which I have yet to see.

Re: Anyone still hauling FEMA trailers??

He's most likely pulling them locally from the drop yard to final delivery. With pickup/drop fees included, $4 is possible but running back and forth, 20-30mi/trip kind of limits how many miles you can generate a day.

Re: Anyone still hauling FEMA trailers??

Thats correct if your hauling for a transporter. I dont haul for a transporter. The runs I make are on average 80 to 100 miles. Usually going from one FEMA yard to another or from a yard to a setup site.

Ive never made a run that short. The shortest runs are 80 miles. Last week I had over 700 paid miles. There arent any fees taken out of my pay. I also get standby time for hours that I amy sit on the yard waiting to get in and out.

I am a freight broker myself. We havn't dealt any with the trailers.

You do have a right as a carrier to ask the broker for copies of the paperwork involved, including what the broker was paid to move the trailers.

Who was brokering the loads to you?
