B&W 1108R installation tip and tricks

I got my B&W 1108R in the mail today, and was wanting to know some tips and tricks for the install. I sure hope they will work with my firestone air bags (2330). Maybe some one has some pictures of their install they could send me?

Where are you air bags mounted exactly. I've seen some pictures of trucks with air bags and there is no way that the side plate for the B&W will fit around the air bags and honestly I don't think B&W sell one that will fit around air bags. Look at the pictures in the instructions and you'll see where the side plate go, most likely that's where your air bags are installed right now. I just installed the 1108 on my truck and the only pain was getting the pieces which look like angle iron in between my truck bed and frame. My bed must have slightly sagged over time because I had to use a hammer to pound the rear angle piece back into position. If you can get yours to fit just take your time and follow the instructions, it took me about 4 hours to do but I took my time. Plan on doing a lot of crawling under the truck, and make sure to torque you hardware as they say.

My air bags mount inside the frame. They are the no drill ones (2330). I just wanted to know if I would have any problems with the hitch and the airbags.

If your air bags are inside the frame than you are probably ok, follow the instructions and if you don't have any interferences you're good to go.

Can someone else confirm this? I would hate to start the install and run into problems

Best thing to do would be to post some pics of your air bag set up and we can probably tell you if it will work.

Turnover Ball and Ride Rite

I have a turnover ball and the Companion 5'er hitch. I had to use the Ride Rite #2398 when I added airbags. I have the truck below.

I spoke with B&W today and they said that 1108 will work with the air bags that mount inside the frame.I'm not sure where the pipe spacers go that come in the kit. Does someone have pictures of their hitch install on their truck?

That's one thing they don't have picture of in the instructions. It goes in between the frame and the side plate at the large hole in the side plate. The side plate, pipe spacer, and frame are all bolted together with the 3/4 inch bolt that is supplied. This gives proper spacing for the side plate to frame because there is a little "curve" to the frame at that point. Hope that explained it.

Doakster, would you have any pictures of the side plates installed on your truck?

Well the wife just called me in for dinner so I guess the install will be a two afternoon job. One thing I did not know was how tight the angles are between the frame and bed. They are tight. Doakster was you install the same way?

I can't remember if the install instructions had a decent photo of the side plats installed or not, probably not, I'll try to get some photos of the hitch installed maybe Saturday.

Yup that was the same on mine to, I could "just slide" the rear angle back into place like they said, I had slide it in place up front across the frame rails and between the bed, and they use a hammer to tap it back a little one side at a time so it went back evenly. It was just tight between the frame and the bed, this was probably because the bed sagged a little over time as things were loaded on it, it was kind of a pain to get back there but it will go.

I meant you couldn't "just slide" it back

Are your angles resting hard on the frame? I would appreciate the pictures. I have to work tomorrow, but hope to finish it up when I get home.
