B&W Turnover Ball and Firestone Air Bags

The 97 CC in my sig has a B&W turnover ball and I want to install a set of Firestone Ride Rites, however, I was looking underneath the truck today and noticed that the mounting bracket for the hitch looks to be exactly where the air bag brackets would install. Does anyone know if the bags with fit with the hitch? Thanks in advance!

Give B&W a call. Youll need a new set of mounts. They wont fit the way it is...

Re: B&W Turnover Ball and Firestone Air Bags

Firestone came up with a new model for the B&W hitch and their airbags a few years ago, I have them on my truck. I wish I could remember the model number but it's been about 3 years since I installed them.
But yes, there is a specific model number for this setup and they do work great.

Yep. That's what I did to verify that I was looking at the right set of bags when I was shopping for mine.

Re: B&W Turnover Ball and Firestone Air Bags

I poked around on www.towshop.com and I found a set of Ride Rites that work with the 99-04 trucks and have a 5th wheel. The upper mount looks completely different than the model that is not compatible with the 5th. The model number is 2330. I'll give them a call tomorrow! Thanks!!!

I mis-read your post. I was under the assumption you already had the airbags

What ever dealer you buy from should ask you if you have a B&W hitch, that will determine which mounts they send you for the kit.

Re: B&W Turnover Ball and Firestone Air Bags

I had no problems installing the ride rites with the B&W. I had just had to add a 1/4" spacer to the bracket but if they have a new style that requires no extra stuff that would be cool.

Re: B&W Turnover Ball and Firestone Air Bags

I just got an email from firestone that says "The only kit we have available for your truck is part number 2071. This kit mounts on the out side of the frame, centered over the axle, and
onto the spring pack. The upper bracket is 13.5" end-to-end, and the
mounting holes are 12.5" center-to-center. This may interfere with your
hitch so we suggest taking measurements before ordering" I don't know, but maybe it has something to do with DRW? I would love for these to bolt up with as little headache is possible, but there is Murphy's law to deal with! Thanks yall!

Re: B&W Turnover Ball and Firestone Air Bags

The Firestones that I have should work, part number 2400 I believe.

There is however an issue with drill-less mounting bracket and a hidden hitch. The rails of the hitch run front to back on the frame, covering the factory hole required to mount your bags. A hole must be drilled through the hitch bracket.

Not sure about the B&W but something to consider.

Re: B&W Turnover Ball and Firestone Air Bags

I just installed a set of Firestones and I also have the B&W.

All the supplied brackets fit.

Do your self a favor and take off the spare tire. This will give you much more room to work.
