B&W Turnover Hitch Install Location in LB

Just ordered a B&W turnover hitch and after reading through the install instruction discovered that there are two possible install positions on a long box, 46" or 49" forward of tailgate. (3" or 6" in front of rear axle)

Is one better than the other?

Called B&W and person I talked to said that if owner has no preference, they install at 49" location.

Also, with the FX4, does the shock absorber on the passenger side interfere with installation at the 49" poition?

Thanks!

Re: B&W Turnover Hitch Install Location in LB

Installed the hitch this morning at the 49 inch position. Did not cut the one inch floor tack weld lip, just bent it out of the way to insert front cross bar and bent it back into place afterwards.

Only thing that did not go as per instructions was adding the extension to the exhaust hanger by the tail pipe. Exhaust did not want to drop that far. Would have had to take off the hangers on the back of the muffler and even this may not have been enough. Ended up bolting up the factory hanger by pulling on it a bit. Exhaust pipe was up against the B&W rear rail, so I folded the exhaust shield and placed it between the two. Should be enough tension in the rubber hangers to keep the heat shield in place.

Took me three hours not including the run to the store to get an 1-1/8" socket and wrench for the 3/4" bolts and nuts. Also changed out the HFCM drain plug with a knurled one during this time.
