Banks or PacBrake exhaust brake for my 7.3 - comments??

After towing my Alpenlite with 2003 F350 7.3 diesel in the Pacific Northwest, I am of the opinion that I should be using an exhaust brake system. I entered a post regarding the "electronic" exhaust brake but it appears to have only 25 percent effectiveness compared to the Banks or PacBrake. So, if I need an exhaust brake, what are the general opinions regarding the two AND what have been experiences with the FORD FACTORY WARRANTY being challenged by using the aftermarket device. THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS.

Re: Banks or PacBrake exhaust brake for my 7.3 - comments??

I had a Pacbrake installed on my 7.3L 2002 dually last week. Have only hauled my 12,000lb fifth wheel this weekend on level ground, but it really seems to make a difference. Ask me about it when I return from the rockies at the end of the summer. I had rather be safe than sorry coming off one of those mountain passes.

between your two choices i'd go with the banks brake if i had the $$$$ i think i would rather go with the u.s. gear brake (i think thats the name) as they use a "waste gate" style valve to keep braking power even down in the low rpm's the rest use a fixed orifice and only work well in the higher rpm's but they're top dollar.

I think you would be happy with either one. They both have a great reputation.

As far as your warranty, you are out on your own there. I know that Dodge is getting to be kind of rediculous about what they won't cover because of aftermarket stuff. I've heard rumors that Ford was getting just as bad. Dodge is almost to the point that they won't cover a blown head gasket if you have farted in the truck... The only person that can really answer your question is your service writer when you drop the truck off for repairs.
