BANKS POWER "Big Hoss Bundle"

I was just wondering if anyone here has purchased this upgrade for the 6.0 PSD. I barely bought my 2005 F-250 in May of this year. I was looking into upgrading the engine performance. I been told by many of my friends who own other diesel trucks say that is a great kit if you can afford it!

Re: BANKS POWER "Big Hoss Bundle"

Don't forget to factor in the cost of head gasket replacement when (not if) they fail. You can plan on the dealership vioding your warranty when you apply such a radical modification to your truck. If you doubt my opinion,go to the upgrade/aftermarket section of this site and read the horror stories found within. What amazes me is the fact that so many of them blame Ford for the engine blowing its heads after they freely admit to installing these hyper-programs and bragging about how many hundreds of feet of rubber they can lay. I'm only trying to help you avoid future grief so don't get mad if you disagree (you'd be amazed at the scathing replies I've gotten when advising against hopping the 6.0--especially in the upgrade/aftermarket section).Good luck with whatever you choose, and if you do opt for an aftermarket program or hardware, keep it mild.--Perry

Uhhh...........sorry the last post left me a bit slack jawed.
The banks kit is a good product and is about as safe as a performance modification can be. That said, I believe with a bit of research in this forum, you can get the same power increase a lot more cheaply.

Re: BANKS POWER "Big Hoss Bundle"

According to your signature you have a 7.3L(2001). My last truck was an'02 and I had intake and exhaust mods along with two different chips and absolutely loved it. The 6 liter is a different situation. It was designed around the goals of weight savings (removing any unnecessary metal) and maximum power output. Basically its working as hard as it can--safely--in factory form whereas the 7.3 is just waking up. If you still think I'm nuts,go plunk down $40k something on a new rig, turn right around and mod it as we've discussed, and then see what the dealer says when you have your first powertrain related issue. THEN you'll be slackjawed! --Perry

Re: BANKS POWER "Big Hoss Bundle"

This question would get more attention over in the aftermarket upgrade forum.

I love your reply and I'm glad you didn't take it wrong, as I am simply trying to offer my arguably eduated opinions using my own thoughts and words. See ya around! --Perry
