Battery Pulsing Devices

Most batteries are eventually wrecked by active material being progressively shed from the positive plates and shrinking on the negative plates. This process is known as sulphation. There are products available (Battery Life Saver and BatteryMINDer) that use high frequency pulses to de-sulphation the batteries and extend the life. Has any one used this type of product to maintain there RV batteries? Did it work?

Another method of de-sulphation the battery is to do an equalization charge. The equalization charge is done at about 15.5 Volts and for a couple hours. The reverses the sulphation in the battery. Does any one perform equalization charges on their batteries?

Re: Battery Pulsing Devices

Yes, and yes. My house charger in the LQ has an equalization setting.

It works, but never 100%. Especially if you are trying to revive automotive or marine "deep cycle" batteries. The 6V RV/golf cart "Trojan" type batteries are much more robust and stand a lot more abuse. But you need two of them in banks to get 12V, the Ah capacity is less for the size, they are more expensive, and you can never totally cure a battery once the chemicals start moving out of place.
